Little IceDogs Programs

Our Little IceDogs division is a partnership program with the Niagara IceDogs and Timbits hockey for players aged 5 to 8. These levels offer cross ice and half-ice learning programs so players get more time with the puck in a fun learning environment. The Little IceDogs start Thanksgiving Weekend (October).

  • U6/U7/U9 - Dedicated weekend ice so parents can set schedules for the season.
  • U6's (1 hour a week) every Saturday morning around 9am.
  • U7's (2 hours a week) Saturday and Sunday mornings.
  • U9's (2 hours a week) Saturday and Sunday late morning or early afternoon.

Our Little IceDogs also attend Niagara IceDogs games, play in the mini-game between periods, have group ticket nights, attend an IceDogs jamboree with the IceDogs players, and more! Players also have the IceDogs logo on their jerseys!

Season Structure

All our home games and practices are at Merritton Centennial Arena.

U9s will play an internal house league setup, starting with half-ice 4 on 4 until the end of December, then in January we move to full-ice 5 on 5 with 3 proper stop-time periods. Practices are Saturdays and games are Sundays.

U11 and U13 Divisions play in the local loop, offering a larger variety and level of competition than just playing the same teams each week. Home games and practices are Saturdays and Sundays.

U15 and U18 Divisions play in the local loop, offering a larger variety and level of competition than just playing the same teams each week. Home games and practices will be primarly Saturday, Sunday, Monday.

Game times are proper hockey setups with 3 stop-time periods and timekeepers. Electronic gamesheets are used for U11 and up.

Tryouts will be held after Labour Day. All ice is at Merritton Arena, and we provide coaches with their schedule at the start of the year so it's available to plan games around.

All RS IceDogs teams attend Select Provincials at the end of the year.
