The U11 Canadians took to the road for a weekend tournament in Brantford Ontario on January 6, 2023.
With a full roster – 3 complete lines – the team arrived at the arena bright, early, and nervous Friday morning and played an old fashioned barn burner – winning the game 11-10. The Canadians game winning goal came with .7 seconds left in the game!! Game number two was a nail biting 5-5 tie. Another early game on Saturday - this time at 7AM – resulted in a convincing 5-1 win. The Canadians lost their final game 3-2, a hard fought loss to the top team. While the team ended with an impressive 2-1-1 record, they missed the finals by only one point.
But the weekend wasn’t all hockey: Much fun was had by all – a team dinner Friday night in Hamilton, pizza party in the hotel rooms, and lots of swimming and stick hockey in the hotel hallways. We only got yelled at by the hotel staff 4 times!
A big congratulations to all the players – the coaches were all very proud of you (and thanks to the parents for all the driving and support).
