Peewee Shamrocks finished 2nd at the Alf Langdon Memorial House League Tournament during the Christmas CYO break.
The Peewee Shamrocks had a successful tournament this weekend. The team made the Championship finals, but ran out of gas in the last game against West London 4-1. The kids played their best hockey in the Semi's with a dominating 6-1 win in the morning game. It was a great team effort.
The most entertaining game was Saturday’s morning game, the 2nd in their pool play. The team was down 3-0 going in the third and waited until late to put the drama into motion. The first goal came with 2:48 to go to make it 3-1. A quick 2nd goal 48 seconds later had Woodstock on their heels.
With the goalie pulled, they had our team pinned in our end and stole the puck with a free shot at the open net. Our defenceman Josh, dove across and made a huge save, as their shooter raised his hands, thinking he had scored. Humberto picked up the puck with 12 seconds to go and skated end to end, past two of their defense and shot a bullet top corner with about 3 seconds on the clock and scoring with 1 second. Ending the game with a dramatic 3-3 tie!
The clock actually showed 0 but there was 1 second and ref pointed to center ice! The entire place was cheering! The kids and parents were jumping for joy! Even the team in the next game waiting, were cheering and high fiving our boys as they came off the ice. It was a blast!! Coach Dave called it , "One of the best comebacks of all time. It didn't matter at what skill or age level. By far a once in a lifetime hockey moment happened!"
The kids represented themselves and the organization well, and came together as a team. Thanks to Coach Dave and the all the coaches and parents for the fun filled weekend of hockey!
