15.0 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
In these By-laws and all other by-laws of the Corporation, unless the context otherwise specifies or requires:
"
Act" means the Corporations Act, R.S.O. 1990, C. 38 as from time to time amended and every statute that may be substituted therefore and, in the case of such substitution, any references in the by-laws of the Corporation to
provisions of the Act shall be read references to the substituted provisions therefore in the new statute or statutes;
"
AGM" means the Annual General Meeting of the Corporation membership convened pursuant to By-law 55;
"
Alliance Hockey" means Alliance Hockey of Ontario;
"
Board" and/or "
Directors" shall mean The Board of Directors;
"
By-laws" means the By-laws of CYO Minor Hockey as amended from time to time;
"
Corporation" shall mean the CYO Minor Hockey Corporation;
"
CYO" shall mean CYO Minor Hockey and it's programs;
"
Director" can mean a Corporate (Elected) Officer and a Corporate (Elected) Officer can mean a "
Director".
"
Hockey Council" means the Council of Officers prescribed in 8.0;
"
Hockey Executive" means the council of Officers prescribed in 9.0;
"
Hockey official" means referees and timekeepers, whether paid or volunteering;
"
Hockey participant" refers to any player rostered to any CYO hockey team and includes all participants Junior IceDogs Program;
"
Hockey season" means the annual period of time commencing with the convening of the first Player Assignment Meeting and ending at the conclusion of the last game on CYO Championship weekend and/or the Alliance Championships;
"
Hockey volunteer" means any coach, trainer, manager, convenor, on-ice assistants and any other class of persons designated by the Board who are older than 18 years and who is associated with any CYO team or program.
"
House league" means CYO teams rostered primarily to play at the recreational level during the hockey season other CYO teams in all age Divisions from U6 through Alumni, and includes players also rostered to CYO Select teams unless the context implies Select teams or players are to be treated in a distinct manner;
"
Member" shall mean a member in good standing except where otherwise stated as referenced in these By-laws;
"
Misconduct" means any actions, behaviour or pattern of behaviour that is unacceptable within CYO Hockey and is further defied with reference of these By-laws and includes abuse, harassment, discrimination and bullying;
"
Officer of the Corporation" means any officer who is not a Director and is appointed by the Board pursuant to these By-laws;
"
Officer of the Board" means any Director elected or appointed to a specific position on Board;
"
Regulations" means the Regulations made under the Act as from time to time amended and every regulation that may be substituted therefore and, in the case of such substitution, any references in the by-laws of the Corporation to provisions of the Regulations shall be read as references to the substituted provisions therefore in the new regulations.
